29 Mar 2012 - e-invoicing as a financial & operational benefit for SMEs & large businesses

EPTDA EU Monitoring Report sheds light on the reasons and financial benefits for SMEs to adapt to electronic invoicing

Until no later than 1 January 2013 (the last date for transposition), businesses in the European Member States can choose how they implement e-invoicing. Paper and digital invoices are then treated entirely equally.
The average market penetration of e-invoicing remains rather low in Europe and is currently estimated at around 5% of all invoices annually exchanged for Business to Business relations.
In this report, the EPTDA highlights the key priorities of the EU Commission to support the mass uptake of e-invoicing. The mass adoption of e-invoicing is expected to bring benefits to the EU as a whole and to contribute to its competitiveness. By estimation, this would generate savings of around EUR 240 billion over a six-year period!
